Practice Turns to Society With Billing Questions
The Franklin Family Practice staff was thrilled when the practice acquired a protime test machine.
Patients could be tested right in the office with a simple finger-prick. If their blood was too thick or too thin, their medication could be adjusted right away.
The machine saved patients from having to be tested at a hospital or laboratory, which could take one or two days for Franklin Family Practice to get the results and often required patients to come in for another appointment.
The only problem was that staff didn’t know how to bill for this service, said office manager Dianne Rhoades.
That’s where Carol Seidlich, the southcentral field representative for the Pennsylvania Medical Society, came in. Carol helped Dianne find websites that would answer her questions.
Now, the service is being billed correctly, and patients are happy.
“We’ve been doing the tests regularly now and I’ve had no trouble. It cuts down on a lot of hassle for patients,” Dianne said.
The Pennsylvania Medical Society can help you find answers your billing questions too.
