State Society Helps Practice Handle Missed Appointments
The Allergy and Asthma Center of Lancaster wanted to charge patients a fee for missed appointments. It also wanted to discharge patients after missing three appointments in a row.
But would these policies violate state regulations?
Practice administrator Peter Murdock turned to the Pennsylvania Medical Society to find the answer.
"We wanted to run these policies past the Pennsylvania Medical Society so that we knew we were on firm ground here in Pennsylvania," Murdock said.
The answer?
Yes, the Allergy and Asthma Center could go ahead with its new policies—as long as it kept the proper documentation.
"We have greater reassurance that we’re doing it properly because we’ve worked with the Medical Society," Murdock said.
