Erie County Medical Society Alliance Members Shelly Benjamin (left) and Annette Wittmann (right) were recognized at the annual award banquet of the Children's Advocacy Center for the Medical Alliance's involvement with the "Shaken Baby Syndrome" prevention project.

Northampton County Alliance Adopt-A-Troop

Over the holidays, Northampton County Alliance members collected toiletries, snacks, music CDs, and other niceties and sent them to the Apache (A) Troop of the Third Squadron of the Seventh Calvary, serving in Iraq. Former County President, Angie Carlin’s son-in-law, Jason Fritz, is serving as Captain. The county Alliance members were so generous that the doctors and nurses serving in an operating room in Afghanistan also received gifts. Monetary contributions were used to purchase coffee shop gift certificates for spouses at an Army base.

Hand washing awareness

Ahead of the curve and well before the flu vaccine shortage, the Alliance embraced a hand washing awareness program, “Henry the Hand.” Pictured, at right, are Lawrence County and PA Alliance members Gina Vasilakis and Sharon Gilleland showing the shirts they wore when teaching pre-schoolers hand washing techniques. The children had a great time with the hand washing stickers and charts.
