Online Resources for Needs Assessment Data
The organizations below offer resources on needs assessment data:
- State Snapshots, an online resource published by the Agency for Healthcare Quality and Research. Provides state-specific health care quality information including strengths and weaknesses, as well as opportunities for improvement. Addresses health care quality and disparities by state.
- Partners in Information Access for the Public Health Workforce, a collaboration of US government agencies, public health organizations and health sciences libraries. Multiple health data tools and statistics and even includes an online tutorial and training manual. National data, international data, as well as links to state public health departments are available.
- Health Profile 2007 Pennsylvania Counties compiled by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Bureau of Health Statistics and Research, is a series of 68 individual profiles—one for each county and one for the commonwealth.
- Statehealthfacts.org is a site maintained by the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation and includes a variety of data for all 50 states. The site is a good resource for general demographics as well as specific healthcare data.
- Hospital Compare is a website run by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) which allows patients to find quality of care information for many of the nation’s hospitals and see how hospitals stack up on 26 quality-of-care measures.
