Broken Promises: Physicians Debate Future of Mcare and Medicine
The loudest, angriest discussion at the Pennsylvania Medical Society’s House of Delegates centered on lawmaker’s recent raid of $100 million in Mcare assessments to balance the state budget.

Highlights from the 2009 House of Delegates
Nearly 30 resolutions were debated at the Pennsylvania Medical Society’s House of Delegates meeting Oct. 24 and 25, 2009, in Hershey.

Mcare

Mcare Assessments Increased to 21 Percent
Mcare assessments for 2010 will be 21 percent of the Joint Underwriting Association (JUA) rates currently approved for use, the Pennsylvania Insurance Department announced.

Thank Legislators Who Voted “No” to Mcare Raid
Please thank your representatives who voted “no” on the question of whether it was constitutional to use Mcare money to help balance the state budget. In the Senate, there was no similar vote on the specifics of Mcare money, so please thank your senators who voted “no” on the final budget that included the Mcare raid.
