Providers Must Report Pregnant Children to Police

Health care providers who treat a pregnant child or a child with a sexually transmitted disease (STD) must report the incident to police.

State law requires providers to report children younger than 13 who are pregnant or have an STD, as well as children younger than 16 who have been impregnated by or contracted an STD from someone four or more years older, state Attorney General Tom Corbett said in a letter to providers.

Incidents must be reported both by telephone and in writing to the head of the local police department or state police.
