Physician Licensing Investigations and Prosecutions: A Guide for Pennsylvania Physicians

The Medical Care Availability and Reduction of Error Act (Act 13 of 2002) has had a number of far-reaching effects on the medical profession. One of the most notable is physician licensing reforms.

Physicians must now self-report events to the licensing boards, including when they are served with a complaint in a professional liability action. The physician licensing boards, in turn, have been required to set up systems to investigate reports and complaints and, if deemed necessary, prosecute and discipline physicians.

For a list of attorneys who represent physicians in professional licensing matters, contact the Department of Regulatory Affairs at (800) 228-7823, ext. 7812.

Publication: Physician Licensing Investigations and Prosecutions: A Guide for Pennsylvania Physicians
The Pennsylvania Medical Society has developed Physician Licensing Investigations and Prosecutions: A Guide for Pennsylvania Physicians to educate our members about this critical issue. This 58-page book will be of most interest to physicians who find themselves under investigation or prosecution by a licensing board.

Several sections of the book, however, might be of interest to any physician. The sections below are available to Society members as printable PDF files.

State Society members can order a complete printed copy of Physician Licensing Investigations and Prosecutions through our online store.
