Keeping Up with the Latest News Is ‘Really Simple’
RSS, which stands for “Really Simple Syndication,” is an easy way to receive instant updates on the latest news from the Pennsylvania Medical Society website.
An RSS subscription will automatically “feed” new stories to an RSS reader on your computer. You won’t have to remember to visit the site and sift through content you aren’t interested in to get the information that you need.
Many RSS users prefer the reader included with Internet Explorer 7, FeedDemon, or Google Reader. See below for instructions on how to use these readers with the Pennsylvania Medical Society web site. Please note that these tools may behave differently on other sites.
Internet Explorer 7
An RSS reader is built right into the Internet Explorer 7 browser.
When you are on a page with an RSS feed, the RSS button—which is next to the “home” button in the browser bar and labeled “view feeds on this page”—will turn orange. Click on this button, which will take you to the feed for that page.
On the feed page, a description of the feed—with a link to subscribe to the feed—is in the yellow box at the top. Click the link to subscribe. In the pop-up box, click “subscribe” to subscribe to the feed.
You can check your feeds by clicking the yellow star on the left side of your browser bar. Updated feeds will appear in bold.

FeedDemon
After downloading and installing FeedDemon, open the software.
Go to the Pennsylvania Medical Society’s list of RSS feeds and find the feed that you want. Copy its URL.
Go back to FeedDemon and select “Subscribe” on the far left. Paste the URL into the pop-up box.
The feed will show up in the left column under subscriptions, with updated feeds in bold.

Google Reader
Sign up for Google Reader. Once you have set up an account and are signed in, you can add subscriptions by clicking the “Add subscriptions” link in the middle of the left column. A text box will appear.
Go to the Pennsylvania Medical Society’s list of RSS feeds and find the feed that you want. Copy its URL.
Paste it into the text box and click “Add.” Your feeds will appear at the bottom of the left column, with updated feeds in bold.
