County Medical Society Settles Lawsuit Over Nursing Home Sale

The Lancaster City and County Medical Society (LCCMS) has scored a victory in a lawsuit settlement with Complete Healthcare Resources (CHR), guaranteeing that Conestoga View Nursing Home will continue to serve patients in need.

CHR has agreed to maintain Medicare and Medicaid certification for every bed at Conestoga View and to provide unlimited charity and indigent care for those who qualify for skilled nursing care.

LCCMS brought the lawsuit against CHR, which purchased Conestoga View from Lancaster County, because it was concerned that patient care would suffer, especially for the indigent.

“We are satisfied that there are sufficient guarantees in place to ensure quality patient care, so that Conestoga View will continue to serve the residents of Lancaster County and especially those of limited means,” said Stephen T. Olin, MD, treasurer of LCCMS.

The parties also agreed to renovate the historic almshouse located on the Conestoga View property. LCCMS will form a charitable organization to coordinate and raise funds for the renovation.
