Act 68—the Quality and Health Care Accountability and Protection Act—requires health insurers to remit payment for clean claims within 45 days of receipt.
Act 68's prompt payment provisions apply only to managed care plans operating under the HMO Act. It excludes plans which are primarily fee for service, including Medical Assistance fee for service, Workers' Compensation, Auto insurance and CHAMPUS.
