Anita Suarez, PA-C
Anita Suarez is one of three physician assistants at Warrington Family Practice. She’s 33 years old. Her parents came from Puerto Rico and moved to the area after living in the Bronx. Her parents worked hard at multiple jobs to provide their children with stability and a good education, and Anita has succeeded beyond their wildest dreams.
Always fascinated by science as a child, Anita wanted to be a doctor but went to nursing school for financial reasons. After a few years working, she was able to put herself through a local physician assistant program. Anita’s parents tell relatives in Puerto Rico that she is a doctor. Now, if she would only get married, they say.
As one of the only Spanish speakers at Warrington, Anita sees most of the Hispanic patients and has a devoted following. If they can’t see Anita, many of them just don’t come in. Anita is committed to helping her patients navigate a confusing, English-speaking health system. Since obesity, fitness, and nutrition are notable problems in the Hispanic community, Anita runs a well-attended wellness program at the Hispanic Center several evenings a week.
Anita’s patients are constantly trying to set her up with their sons, and her parents aren’t much better. Little do they know, but Anita has been secretly dating someone for almost two years. She’s all but moved out of her townhouse, except when her parents come to visit. But he’s not Puerto Rican.
