Objectives
Physicians participating in this activity should be able to:
- Predict possible diagnostic errors resulting from case-specific factors.
- Identify common heuristics used by physicians during the diagnostic process.
- Select the appropriate strategy to evaluate diagnostic decision-making processes.
- Select the appropriate system-level intervention to minimize the possibility of diagnostic error.
- Recall the common etiology of diagnostic errors.
- Distinguish between strategies that do and do not increase the detection rate of diagnostic error within healthcare facilities.
